NICHOLS -- H. Maxcy Huggins, 60, died Friday, May 8, 1998, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
He was born Oct. 24, 1937, in Horry County, a son of the late Bryan and Meekie Shelley Huggins.
He was an employee of the Horry County Fire Department and had served as fire chief of the Mount Olive Fire Department since 1981. He was a Mason and a member of the Jamil Shrine Temple.
He was a graduate of Floyds High School and attended Clemson University. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, where he was a past deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Gail King Huggins; two sons, Greg Huggins of Nichols and Jeff Huggins of Conway; a daughter, Mandy Hall of Jackson, Tenn.; a stepson, Kevin Elliott of Marion; a stepdaughter, Angie Fowler of Tabor City, N.C.; five grandchildren; and two stepgrandchilren. 20
