Misc. Notes
On Monday, March 19, an angel was called up to heaven. Margarette "Peggy" Holloway passed away peacefully at age 104.
Margarette Mae "Peggy" (Teel) Holloway was born March 14, 1914, to Walter and Ida (Wortman) Teel, near Enterprise, Ore., on Elk Flat. Peggy was one of four children: she had two brothers, Maurice and Robert; and a sister, Bonnie. Peggy attended school in Eden Bench near Troy, Ore., as well as in Asotin and Davenport, Wash.
Jan. 1, 1935, Peggy married Marvin Holloway in Enterprise. Marvin and Peggy went on to have four children, LaDoris, Billy, Virginia and Darrell. They made their home in Wallowa County until 1948, when they moved up Asotin Creek. After raising their children, in 1958 Marvin went to work for the U.S. Forest Service, relocating to Pomeroy. During their time in Pomeroy, Peggy owned and operated a local laundromat for 13 years. In later years, when it was time to retire and sell the business, Peggy said it was like "having to sell one of the children."

In 1970, Marvin and Peggy retired and moved to Clarkston. They loved to camp and fish and make trips to the Oregon Coast. They also loved to take their grandchildren to Tucannon River and Baker's Pond to fish. Peggy could boast that she had a fishing license in four different states. Unfortunately, Marvin passed away suddenly in 1983. Peggy continued to take her mini-home (motor home) fishing, camping and traveling with her many friends and family members. She loved to take trips to the mountains to look for morel mushrooms, huckleberries and wildflowers. She loved returning to Troy every year on Easter for their community potluck.
Peggy was a devoted member of the Asotin Methodist Church. She was a loyal volunteer of the Asotin County Food Bank for many years, and also was known for her intricate doilies, which were blue-ribbon winners year after year at the Asotin County Fair. Peggy enjoyed gardening, crocheting and doing the newspaper crossword puzzle on a daily basis.
In 1993, she was able to join in on the Asotin County Fair trail ride, along with some of her family. At age 80, she was able to ride the majority of the 100-mile ride.

Peggy's real passion was in her love of family. She was a true matriarch of her family, who all loved her dearly. Every Christmas eve since 1970, the entire family would gather at her house for her signature oyster stew; it was a beloved family tradition. When asked what she was most proud of in her lifetime, Peggy would reply, "my four children, they are very good people." She was a remarkable woman, living a full and long life. One sentiment people would often say fondly of her is that she always loved everyone for exactly who they were.
Peggy is survived by her four children, LaDoris (Earl) Taylor of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Bill (Leazan) Holloway of Clarkston, Virginia Earl (Norm Sanford) of Asotin and Darrell (Mary) Holloway of Lewiston; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 22 great-great grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Marvin; her parents, Walt and Ida; two brothers, Maurice and Robert Teel; her sister, Bonnie Southwick; her son-in-law, Lee Earl; and two grandchildren.
