“believe that Lyman Murdock and Hyrum/Hiram Murdock were brothers:  in 1850 you will find Hyrum and his sister in law Caroline Murdock (with Lyman) in Pottawattami Iowa as neighbors to Joseph Young,  Hyrum was married to Rachel Rosella Kelsey with Sylvia Kelsey living in his household.  A decade later, Sylvia had married Lyman Murdock.  See Iowa Annotated Census for 1850.
