Reuben, Henry, & William Buck sold their undivided interest in the west half of the northeast quarter of Township 5, Range 2, Section 21 (Hopewell Twp.) to Jacob Eichar. No wives signed, releasing dower, so it would appear none of them were married at the time. The other siblings did not sign either, so it appears they held out for more money at a later date, or received something else in their father's estate. In May of 1853, Christian's widow, Kesiah (Sutton) Buck sells her right to the 80 acres, and a week later the sheriff delivers deed to Jacob Eichar under subjection to dower, so there must have been some fighting over the ownership of the acreage for the sheriff to get involved.
