Came from PA about 1747 and settled on North River at mouth of Buffalo Creek, thus the name of “Buffalo” Thomas Paxton to distinguish him from his cousins. Kept a boat yard, flour and saw mills
Will dated 13 Sept 1788 and probated 2 Dec 1788, names children John, Samuel, William, James, Thomas, Sarah and Mary as having their share.
Then names Jean, Mary his wife Joseph got someplace and to support widow and minor children; son Hugh, son Isaac, Hannah, Elizabeth, again names sons Hugh, David and Isaac, and an unborn child.
