I am placing Matthew, Daniel and John as sons at this time

The Lyles were of Scotch Irish lineage and Presbyterian. Appear in VA as early as 1742 and became intimate associates of Paxtons, Alexanders, McClungs, McDowels and Houstons. Seen 1753 in list of Rev John Brown to Timber Ridge Church names of Matthew, Daniel, John and Samuel Lyle appear. Grandfather was Samuel Lyle of County Antrim, Ireland. He had two sons - James and Robert. Samuel who signed the churches’ call was probably a son of Robert but the others were brothers and sons of James Lyle.184. image 135
