Misc. Notes
James Campbell was the son of Alexander and Margaret Johnston Campbell of Antrim County, Ireland. Records show they had four sons: James, born in 1794, Samuel, Alexander, born in June, 1806, and Andrew, born in March, 1810. Historical records in Indiana County, Pennsylvania at the library say that James came to America from Antrim County, Ireland when he was 23. That would indicate that 1817 was the date that he came to the area that is now near Shelocta, Pennsylvania. He married Margaret Craig March 15, 1826, the daughter of William Craig and Mary Gamble Craig. James fought in the War of 1812 in the Army Infantry, 2nd Brigade, 2nd Division, in the Bucks County Militia as a Private from 1812 to 1814. Both Margaret and James were members of the West Union United Presbyterian Church located near Parkwood, PA; they are both buried in the West Union Cemetery. James and Margaret had seven children: Ann Jane, Margaret, William, Mary, Alexander Samuel, James Jr., and John Otis.
