Family of 9 children, 8 reached maturity; Harriet, Mary Ann, John F, Josiah, Susana, Caroline, Noah and Cassie; four elder born in Somerset Co. to Daniel and Catharine Lowry Flickinger. Daniel born 10 Nov 1800 and son of Jacob whose father came from Germany. Daniel’s mothers maiden name was Susan WITT.

Jacob was a stone mason and had 11 children, all grown with families. Daniel was the 8th born and remained on homestead. Married 19 Feb 1822 to Catharine Lowry who was born 30 Jun 1797 dau of John and Mary Curtz Lowry. In 1829 he emigrated west to Milton, Wayne Co. OH. Brother Peter and brother-in-law Joseph Arnold mved out in 1814 locating in Greene Two near Smithville. After 60 years live companionship passed to her reward 16 Aug 1880 leaving 5 children : Mary Ann wife of Jacob Copenhaver of Allen Co IN; John F; Josiah in Kansas; Noah in Carroll Co IL; and Catharine, mrs Rudolph Dague.
