Misc. Notes
Obit for Jacob Wesley Warner:

Jacob Wesley Warner, son of David and Margaret Warner, was born in Preble County, Ohio, January 19, 1844, died February 6, 1901, aged fifty-seven years and seventeen days. About the year 1859 his parents moved to Miami County, Indiana, and settled on the farm where he resided until his death. In the year 1863, at the age of nineteen he enlisted as a recruit in Co D, Indiana Cavalry, serving until the close of the war, being mustered out at Vicksburg, Mississippi, December 1865. On the 29th of March, 1866, he was united in marriage to Eva Shafer (Shaffer), to which union was born ten children of whom William, the oldest son, has preceded him to the spirit land. Those who survive are Mrs. Alice Newton, Peru, Ind., Mrs. Maggie Wagaman and Mrs. Grace Brown, of Kokomo, Mrs. Della Gregary, Mrs. Rose Long, Mrs. Emma Winters of this county and Miss Ollie and Masters Walter and Adrian. Besides these he leaves an aged mother, his loving companion, two brothers and three sisters, who mourn the loss of a dutiful son, an affectionate husband and kind and sympathetic brother. Early in life he united with the M. E. Church at Perrysburg and later with the Five Corner Church, with which he remained a faithful Christian worker until his death. He was a member of the I. O. O. F. at Deedsville and was very highly esteemed by the brothers in that order; was also a member of the G. A. R. Post at Macy. Brother Warner was one of those quiet, unassuming men to whom the longer one is acquainted with, the more he becomes attached. We lose a kind friend, and a good neighbor and an excellent citizen. Funeral sermon preached by the pastor, Brother Davis. Text, 1st Peter, 1st chapter, 24th and 25 verses. Funeral was attended by G.A.R. Post and I.O.O.F lodges from Macy and Deedsville but without regalia or the use of their burial ceremony. T.H.C.

This paragraph was glued to the bottom of the obit:

The funeral of J. W. Warner at Five Corners, last Friday was attended by a great many people. Mr. Warner had hosts of friends. He was a good neighbor, a good citizen, a veteran soldier in the war for the union and a true man in every sense.
