WILLIAM DAVIS of Roxbury, Massachusetts; b. 1617; d. 9th December, 1683, in Roxbury, where he settled about 164o. The family tradition is that he and a
brother of his came to America together and settled first at or near Marshfield, Massachusetts; supposed to have come from County Somerset, England. At Tickenham
in this county are the ruins of Rees DAVIS, date 1500, and in the banquet hall is carved the Coat of Arms which formed the Seal to the will of Ichabod DAVIS,
a son of William, Freeman, 1673,
