This is the last Will and Testament of me Christian Barnes of the Township of Esquesing n the County of Halton in the Province of Ontario.  Gentlemen, I will and desire that all my past debts, funeral and testamentary expenses, be paid by my Executors, as Soon as Conveniently may be after my decease
I Give and dispose of the Same as follows.
And as to my wordly [sic] Estate wherewith it hath pleasesd God to bless me I give, Devise, and Bequeath, to my Son William Barnes, the house and lot owned by me and Situate on the north westerly part of lot number Eighteen in the Eighth Concession of the Township of Esquesing, containing half an acre of land more or less, during his life time, and in the event of his wife - Henriette Harriet Barnes Surviving her Said husband then it is my will and wish that She possess and Enjoy the said above mentioned house and lot during her lifetime - and after the death of both of them I give devise and bequeath absolutely to my grandson John Barnes Son of the above mentioned William Barnes the house and lot hereinbefore mentioned to hold to him his heirs and assigns for Ever.  I Give and bequeath to my Son Peter Barnes the Sum of Forty five dollars to my son George Barnes the Sum of Twenty dollars to my Son John Barnes my Gold watch to my son William Barnes all my wearing apparel and to my daughter Mary Black the Sum of Fifty dollars, I bequeath to my granddaughter Sarah Hopkins the Sum of Forty dollars.  It is also my will and wish that my Executors retain the Sum of one hundred dollars to be applied by them in payment of my funeral Expenses and for the Erection of a Tomb Stone over my remains.  The balance of money that I may be possessed of after paying all the foregoing bequests and funeral Expenses to be divided Equally between my granddaughters Jane Black, Maryann Harley now Maryann Dean, and Lizzie Lee share and Share alike.
It is also my will and wish that my Executors Shall as Soon as Convenient after my decease Collect any outstanding debts that may remain unpaid, to Enable them to pay the foregoing bequests.
And I hereby nominate and appoint my trusty friends George Thompson, Joseph Barber and William Stull to be Executors of this my last Will, hereby revoking all former wills.
In Witness whereof I the Said Christian barnes have hereunto set my hand and Seal this fourteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Sixty Seven.
Signed, Sealed published and declared by the Said Testator Christian Barnes as and for his last will and Testament in the presence of us, who at his request and in his presence, and in the presence of Each other have Subscribed our names as witnesses hereto
