"Some Genealogies and Family Records" presents just what the title indicates — an enumeration of the -nemhers of the Straw family and their descendants.. Albert Y. Straw, the author of the book, wrote in its Foreword that "it was the purpose of the Author when starting on this work to consider only the Straw and one Or two other families, in whom a few of us were perscnolly interested. It was soon apparent, however, that about
as much interest attached to our maternal ancestors as to our paternal. This broadened our research, and increased our interrelations in an interesting study, resulting in a wider inquiry that has included most of the original pioneer families of the Southern end of Clearfield County.”
Specifically, Mr. Straw started with Nicholas Straw, his great-great-grandfather, and Mary Catherine Dale, his great-great-grandmother, who were married in 1775.S
From this union he traces family lineages of their descendants to cover, as he wrote, most of the original pioneer families of the Southern end of Clearfield Ccunty.
In addition to the Straws, the book includes genealogies and family records of the Thompson, Ardery, Read, Cath- cfert, MrKe.nrcie, Sporkrnon, Mirkoels, grown, WrIgner,
