I of the "Blauvelt Family Genealogy". I checked the facts there against
the published church records and have made one correction and an addition.
Nicolas Westervelt was born 13 Nov 1789 and baptized in the New York City
Dutch church on 6 Dec 1789. His parents were Gerret Westervelt and
Elizabeth Davies. The witnesses at the baptism were Nicholaas Davies and
Maria Davies. Garrit Westervelt and Elizabeth Davies were married in the
New York City Dutch Church on 19 Oct 1788.
Gerret Westervelt was born 7 Aug 1764 and baptized on 26 Aug 1764 in the
Schraalenburgh DRC in New Jersey. His parents were Gerret Westervelt and
Marytje Brouwer. The witnesses at the baptism were Gerret Blauvelt and
Catryntje, his wife.
Gerret Westervelt and Marytjen Brouwer were married 11 Sep 1743 at
Schraalenburgh, where they both had been born. This Gerret was baptized 3
May 1724 at the Schraalenburg Church, the son of Jan Westervelt and Dirkje
Blauvelt. The witnesses at the baptism were Gerret Westervelt and his
wife.
Marytjen Brouwer was baptized on 19 Nov 1721 in the Hackensack DRC. She
was the daughter of Abram Bouwer and Lea Demarest. The witnesses at the
baptism were Abram Uldrickse Brouwer and Willemtie Alberse, who was the
wife of Johannes Slodt.
Jan Lubbertse Westervelt married Dirkje Blauvelt on 28 May 1709 in the
Hackensack, NJ, DRC.
Jan was baptized on 27 Mar 1686 at Hackensack, the son of Lubbert
Lubbertsz Westervelt and Hilletje Pouwels.
Dirkje Blauvelt was baptized on 3 Apr 1687 in the New York City Dutch
Church. She was the daughter of Huybert Gerritsen Blauvelt and Willemtje
Adriaens Smith. Huybert and Willemtje were married in the New York City
Dutch Church on 15 Apr 1679.
Huybert was baptized on 13 May 1657 in New York, the son of Gerrit
Hendrickszen [Blauvelt] and Marritje Lamberts Moll.
"Wilmke" was baptized on 4 Apr 1658 in Tuil, Gelderland Province, the
Netherlands. She was the daughter of Adriaen Lamberts Smith and his
second wife -- Dirckske Cornelis -- who was born in the neighboring
village of Haeften. Adriaen and Dirckske were married in the Tuil church
on 7 Sep 1656. The European origin of this Smith family is more fully
discussed in my article on "The European Origins of Adriaen Lamberts Smith
