Caroline traveled across IA with her surviving children Hyrum, Eliz, Lyman, Emer and newborn Sarah Emily (Dobson) Hyrum and younger teenaged brother Lyman, worked as policemen at Winter Quarters under Hosea Sytout and high counsil president, Alpheus Cutler. Hyrum Murdock and Rachel Rozilla Kelsey, both about 20, married Winter Quartrs 19 Apr 1848 by Mormon president Brigham Young. Later, in 1855, Lyman married Sylvia Elizabeth Kelsey, Rachels sister.
