Samuel Paxton Sr settled on Marsh Creek prior to 1740. Three sons. Thomas, Samuel Jr and John. Other children were not named names. Samuel an old man when he came to America. His son Thomas settled in Western PA and descendant was Rev John R Paxton of New York.

Probably arrived around 1730, pd taxes as early as 1732, probably a brother or nephew of Hugh Paxton of Maryland. The Thomas Paxton taxed in 1722 supposed to be a brother and the Thomas born 1713 (#288) and md Jane Aston may have been a nephew

A descendant of brother Samuel was Rev Wm M Paxton

John, son of Samuel Sr disappears from the records. Died or left the settlement when he sold his warrants. 184

Samuel Sr settled with his family. in marsh Creek Valley about 1730, land was applied for within 2 years after the Land Office was opened for settlers West of the Susquehanna. Probable he died in early forties; no record of wife or daughters. Sons:
1 John, took up 200 acres 21 Apr 1735
2 Thomas, took up 400 acres 25 may 1738
3 Samuel Jr, took up land 1741
4 Nathaniel took up small tracts of land 28 Jul 1743 and remained in PA and died mar 1781, leaving a wife Hannah and children, besides others, not named in the will:
