5. JOSEPH, b. Feb. 25, 1687/8; m. (1) Annewho d. in April,1719; m. (2) Nov. 10, 1720, Abigail Clegg. Elected a constableof Braintree in 1729/30, he refused to take the oath and paidthe fine of £5. In the decade 1710-1720 he was active in buyingand selling parts of "the purchase land that Braintree boughtof Boston gentlemen." He sold a house and fifteen acres of landin Braintree to his son John Spear, then of Weymouth, in 1739,
and in 1740 Joseph Spear, yeoman, and Abigail Spear his wife,"spinster," both now residing in Attleborough, deeded additionalland to John. l

DEERING Spear b. 6 mar 1700 and md Deborah Niles 20 Jul 1722. Deborah died 12 mar 1725; md 2) Jemima Thayer on 30 Jun 1726; Deering died 12 Mar 1767. Buried Central Cemetery in Randolph.
Will made 4 Sept 1767 and proved 4 Dec. Names wife Jemima, sons Deering, Richard, days Jemima Nightingale and Deborah Slone, granddaughter Abigail Hunt; grandchildren Seth Man, Deborah Man, Executor was son Richard. ———Jemima Spear WILL 12 Jun 1770, proved 12 Dec 1777. Son Richard, dau Deborah Sloan and Jemima Nightingale, granddaughter Jemima Nightingale, names grandson Deering Spear. Grandchildren Abigail Hunt, Peter Hunt, Son Deering was executor.
