“In the summer of 1883”… access to valuable genealogical records of first setters of town in possession of Dr Alvin Talcott.
"It is not yet known in which parish they (Henry Doude/Elizabeth Dadson Doude) resided between the dates of their marriage (12 May 1635) and of their departure to New England in 1639. We hope, eventually, to locate the christening records of two of their daughters, Elizatbeth and Mary. We now know that these two children of Henry and Elizabeth were born in England because Elizabeth's father, Ambrose Dadson, of Maidstone, Kent, left a will dated March 14, 1639/40 (probated April 8, 1640) naming these two grandchildren, among others: '...and to my Sonne in Law henry Dowd and my daughter Elizabeth the wife of the said hnery and to my grandchildren Elizabeth Dowd and Mary Dowd twelve pence a peece to each of them of lawfull English money.'"
