Paxton book “Dr. Todd makes Sarah mother of all the Rockbridge family, and the widow of William. It is probable that he refers to Sarah, widow of Thomas of South River….”
Letter from Hon CC Baldwin of Balcony Falls, Rockbridge Co. investigated the genealogy of his wife, a Paxton, wrote the author in 1887 “I have always heard that the ancestry of the Rockbridge Paxtons was JOHN PAXTON and his wife was named ELiZABETH, that they came from Ireland a few years prior to 1740, and settled in what was then Chester Co PA. John died in PA and his widow with 5 sons, about 1840, removed to Rockbridge”
Mary Davidson researched and wrote author that she was convinced name was “Elizabeth ALEXANDER” and her husband was John Paxton.
